Best rooftop bars in Bangkok by budget, with 2026 prices
12 Bangkok rooftop bars checked in October 2026, cheap to splurge: drink prices, entry fees, dress codes, hours and the walk from the station.

On this page10
The best rooftop bar in Bangkok is the one that fits your budget and your shoes. For a cheap sunset, climb the stairs to Swing Bar in the old town, where a beer starts at about 100 baht. For a big view at a fair price, go to ThreeSixty on the river or Octave in Thong Lo, where cocktails cost about 400 to 500 baht. And if you want the famous one, Sky Bar at lebua still has the view, but its Hangovertini is now 1,500 baht before service and tax.
We checked all 12 bars on 23 October 2026: whether they're open, their hours, prices from their own menus where they publish one, the door rules and the walk from the station. One thing older lists miss: Moon Bar at Banyan Tree is closed for renovation until 2 December 2026. Hours and prices change, so tap the map link before you go.
How do you choose a rooftop bar in Bangkok?
Four questions sort it out.
- What do you want to spend? The cheap rooftops pour beer for 80 to 150 baht and cocktails for 150 to 300. Hotel rooftops charge 400 to 550 for a cocktail. The famous ones charge 1,000 or more for a drink, or sell a ticket at the door.
- What do you want to look at? The river and Wat Arun from the old town and the Thonburi bank, or a wall of towers from Sukhumvit, Silom and Ratchaprasong.
- What are you wearing? Shorts and sandals are fine at Swing Bar and Eagle Nest. Hotel rooftops turn men away in sportswear, sleeveless tops and flip-flops, and the strictest want long trousers and closed shoes.
- When are you going? Sunset is around 5:50pm from November to mid-December and about 6:30pm in April. Get there 30 to 45 minutes early for a seat at the edge.
And a word on the bill. Most hotel bars price their menus "++", which means 10% service charge and then 7% VAT on top. That adds almost 18%, so a 500-baht cocktail comes to about 590. Sky Beach and GenZ quote prices with everything included.

Cheap rooftop bars in Bangkok for sunset
These four start a beer at about 150 baht or less (Sky on 20 only at happy hour). They're lower than the hotel towers, so you look across the city rather than down on it, and that's often the better sunset.
Swing Bar by ChingCha
Swing Bar sits on top of the six-storey ChingCha hostel on Siri Phong Road and looks straight at the Giant Swing, with Wat Suthat and City Hall around it. It's the cheapest proper view on this list: beers run about 100 to 250 baht and cocktails start around 150, going by January 2026 prices. There's no lift, so it's six flights of narrow stairs. People start queuing at about 4pm for the 5pm opening, so on a weekend be at the door early. No dress code. Open daily, 5pm to midnight, a 9-minute walk from MRT Sam Yot. Map
GenZ Bar & Bistro
GenZ is on the 17th floor of the Grand China hotel, where Yaowarat Road meets Ratchawong, so you get Chinatown's neon below you and the river off to one side. A classic cocktail is 250 baht, a signature 290, a Tsingtao 80 and a local draft 150, and recent visitors say nothing is added on top. It's part bar, part terrace, with a pool table, and it opens at noon, so it works for a late-afternoon drink before you eat your way down Yaowarat (our night market picks cover the street). Open daily, noon to midnight, 8 minutes on foot from MRT Wat Mangkon. Map
Heaven Rooftop Bar & Lounge
Heaven is two floors on top of a small hotel in Silom Plaza: a lounge on the 7th floor and the open roof on the 8th. It's low, but the towers of Silom stand all around it, King Power Mahanakhon included. Classic cocktails start at 220 baht, signatures are 300 and a draft beer is 120, which is cheap for Silom Road. Open daily, 5pm to 2am, 5 minutes on foot from BTS Chong Nonsi. Map
Sky on 20
Sky on 20 is the Novotel's rooftop on Sukhumvit Soi 20, 26 floors up, and it's in the cheap list for one reason: happy hour. From 5 to 7pm every day, selected cocktails, wines and beers start at 99 baht, about as cheap as a skyline drink gets on Sukhumvit. After 7 it's hotel pricing, and the full menu isn't online. Open daily, 5pm to 1am. It's a 13-minute walk from BTS Asok, or a short Grab. Map
Mid-range rooftop bars: about 300 to 600 baht a drink
Here you get a hotel rooftop 30 to 50 floors up, or the best river view in town, for a drink between about 300 and 550 baht. This is where most visitors end up, and where men should leave the vest and flip-flops at the hotel.
Eagle Nest
Eagle Nest is the small roof of the Sala Arun hotel at the end of the Tha Tian alley, up a spiral staircase on the 5th floor, facing Wat Arun across the river. It isn't high and it isn't fancy. You come for the temple: the sun sets behind it, and after dark it glows gold. Expect about 290 baht for a Chang and about 380 for a cocktail. It's walk-in only with no dress code, so arrive around 5pm to get a table at the rail. Open Monday to Thursday 4 to 11pm, Friday to Sunday 4pm to midnight. MRT Sanam Chai is a 7-minute walk. Map
If it's full, the rooftop bar at Sala Rattanakosin is a minute away on Maharat Road, with much the same view. It's open 4 to 10:30pm and takes bookings, which is worth doing for a sunset table, and it's stairs only too. Map

Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar
Octave fills the top five floors of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, from an indoor lounge on the 45th to an open deck on the 49th that looks all the way round. It's the easiest big rooftop to reach: 4 minutes from exit 3 of BTS Thong Lo. Cocktails run about 370 to 450 baht plus service and tax, and from 5 to 7pm there's a happy hour on the signature cocktails. Dress is casual chic, which for men means no sportswear, flip-flops or sleeveless tops, and the top floors are for over-20s only. On weekends, book if you want the rail at sunset, and know that rain can close the open seating. Open daily, 5pm to 2am. Map

Tichuca
Tichuca is the one with the big glowing tree, on the 46th floor of the T-One Building on Sukhumvit Soi 40, with standing room up to the 50th. Entry is free but it's walk-in only, and you order and pay for your first drink at the ground floor before you take the lift. Bring your original passport: it's 20 and over, and the bar's own rules say copies and phone photos of it won't get you in. Cocktails cost about 400 to 500 baht plus service and tax. Come close to the 5pm opening, because after 8pm it's packed and loud and the lift queue grows. Open daily, 5pm to 1am, 4 minutes on foot from BTS Thong Lo. Map
Bar.Yard
Bar.Yard, a garden of a rooftop on the 40th floor of the Kimpton Maa-Lai, reopened in January 2026 with a new look and a Pan-Latin and Thai menu. Drinks start at 270 baht, and the 5 to 7pm happy hour puts every drink at 350 baht plus service and tax. Order the spicy margarita. It's open 5pm to 1am Sunday to Wednesday and to 2am Thursday to Saturday, but Google listed it as closed on Wednesdays when we checked, so call ahead that night. Under-20s are allowed only until 9pm, with an adult, and in bad weather they can't promise you an outdoor seat. BTS Chit Lom is a 13-minute walk; a Grab is easier. Map
ThreeSixty Lounge
ThreeSixty is on the 32nd floor of the Millennium Hilton on the Thonburi bank, which gives it something the Sukhumvit towers can't: the bend of the Chao Phraya right below you, with the sun going down over the river. There's a covered jazz lounge and an open deck. Its 2026 menu has cocktails at 470 to 520 baht, a Singha draught at 230 and alcohol-free cocktails at 320, all plus service and tax. Smart casual: no sleeveless tops, flip-flops or sportswear. Open daily, 5pm to 1am. The Gold Line made it easy: ride to Charoen Nakhon and it's a 3-minute walk. Map
The big-name rooftop bars, and what they cost
These are the ones on every list. Each has a catch: a ticket, a 1,000-baht drink, or a door that checks your shoes.
Sky Bar at lebua
Sky Bar is the round bar on the 64th floor of State Tower, the one from The Hangover Part II, and it's what most people mean when they search for "sky bar Bangkok". The view down the river is the best in the city, and the prices match. On the drinks list dated 12 October 2026, the Hangovertini is 1,500 baht, the other signatures 1,300 to 1,500, wine by the glass from 980 and the alcohol-free cocktails 900, all plus service and tax. There's no beer on the list. One Hangovertini comes to about 1,765 baht.
It's walk-in only, no bookings. lebua bans sportswear, swimwear, flip-flops and sleeveless shirts for men, and the door is known for wanting long trousers and closed shoes on men, so wear them. When the lift opens, staff may steer you to the pricier Pink Bar; ask for Sky Bar. Arrive at 5pm for sunset, not at 6, and the photo at the top of this page shows why. Open daily, 5pm to 12:30am, a 7-minute walk from BTS Saphan Taksin. Map
Sky Beach at King Power Mahanakhon
Sky Beach, on the 78th floor of King Power Mahanakhon, is the highest rooftop bar in Bangkok, and it has the most rules about getting in. Before 7pm you need a Mahanakhon SkyWalk ticket: 1,000 baht for an adult until 3:30pm and 1,200 from 3:30 to 7pm, which also gets you onto the glass floor. After 7pm the door has been charging about 1,000 baht including one drink, a January 2026 price, so check it at the counter. Once you're up, the drinks are fair for the height: cocktails 520 to 540 baht and a beer 280, with tax and service included. No reservations, all ages, smart casual. Open daily, 10am to midnight, last entry 11pm. Exit 3 of BTS Chong Nonsi leads into the building. Map
Red Sky and CRU at Centara Grand
The Centara Grand above CentralWorld has two bars stacked on its roof. Red Sky, on the 55th and 56th floors, is free to enter and takes no bar bookings, so it's first come, first served. Three floors up, CRU is a champagne bar on the 59th floor with the higher seat and the higher bill: cocktails 750 baht, champagne cocktails 990 and wine by the glass from 600, all plus service and tax, on its October 2025 menu. Red Sky doesn't publish its bar prices online. Men need smart trousers at both, with no shorts, sandals or sportswear, and CRU is over-20s only. Both are open 5pm to 1am, an 8-minute walk from BTS Chit Lom. Map
What changed in 2026
- Moon Bar is closed. Vertigo and Moon Bar at Banyan Tree are shut for renovation and reopen on 2 December 2026, according to the hotel. Plenty of lists still send you there.
- Sky Bar costs more than most lists say. The Hangovertini is 1,500 baht plus service and tax, and nothing alcoholic is under 980.
- Bar.Yard reopened in January with a new look and menu.
- Afternoon drinks are legal. Since 29 May 2026, alcohol can be sold from 11am to midnight with no 2 to 5pm break, and hotels and licensed venues get more leeway than that (Time Out).
What's the dress code at Bangkok rooftop bars?
It goes up with the floor number.
- No dress code: Swing Bar and Eagle Nest.
- Smart casual: Octave, Tichuca, ThreeSixty and Sky Beach. For men that means no sleeveless tops, no flip-flops and no sportswear.
- Strict: Sky Bar, Red Sky and CRU. Men should wear long trousers and closed shoes. At Sky Bar the ban on flip-flops and swimwear applies to everyone.
Whatever you wear, carry your original passport. Thailand's drinking age is 20, Tichuca and CRU are 20 and over, and Tichuca won't accept a copy.
When should you go: sunset, rain and dry days
Sunset moves by about an hour across the year, so check the month before you book a table.
| When | Sunset in Bangkok (about) |
|---|---|
| Late October | 5:55pm |
| November to mid-December | 5:50pm |
| Late December | 6:00pm |
| February | 6:15 to 6:25pm |
| April | 6:30pm |
| July | 6:50pm |
Rain. From May to October, evening storms close open decks, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for the night. Have a plan with a roof on it, like ThreeSixty's covered jazz lounge or Octave's indoor floor.
Dry days. On some Buddhist holy days most bars stop selling alcohol for the day. The last one in 2026 is Ok Phansa, Monday 26 October. Hotel bars may still serve, so ask before you go.
Sunset on a roof is a two-person plan, anyway. One of you holds the table at the rail while the other fetches the drinks, and someone takes the photo with the skyline behind you. If you're in Bangkok on your own, a Bangkok friend can come along for that drink.
Want company for sunset drinks?
Take this list and pick a bar, then pick a friend in Bangkok, send the day and the time, and meet at the station exit or the lift. For a bar, your friend is 20 or over, Thailand's drinking age. They come along, keep you company at the rail, talk to the staff in Thai and take the photo of the two of you with the city lighting up behind. It's booked by the hour and always platonic: no sex, no kissing, no harassment. Their time is the booking, and the drinks you pay for on the night. Here's how booking works.
Questions people ask
What is the most famous rooftop bar in Bangkok?
Sky Bar at lebua, on the 64th floor of State Tower, made famous by The Hangover Part II. It's walk-in only and open from 5pm to 12:30am. On its October 2026 drinks list, cocktails cost 1,300 to 1,500 baht and the alcohol-free ones 900, plus 10% service and 7% tax.
How much does a drink cost at a Bangkok rooftop bar?
At the cheap rooftops, a beer costs about 80 to 150 baht and a cocktail 150 to 300. Hotel rooftops charge about 400 to 550 for a cocktail, plus almost 18% for service and tax. At Sky Bar a cocktail is 1,300 to 1,500 baht before those charges, and Sky Beach charges 1,000 to 1,200 baht just to go up before 7pm.
What is the cheapest rooftop bar in Bangkok?
Of the bars we checked, Swing Bar in the old town (beer from about 100 baht, cocktails from about 150) and GenZ in Chinatown (a Tsingtao for 80) are the cheapest. For a view from higher up, Sky on 20's happy hour starts at 99 baht a drink from 5 to 7pm.
What should I wear to a rooftop bar in Bangkok?
Smart casual covers almost every hotel rooftop: for men, long trousers, a shirt with sleeves and closed shoes are the safe choice. Leave sportswear, vests and flip-flops behind. For Sky Bar, Red Sky and CRU, men should wear long trousers and closed shoes. Swing Bar and Eagle Nest have no dress code.
What is the tallest rooftop bar in Bangkok?
Sky Beach, on the 78th floor of King Power Mahanakhon. Before 7pm you need the SkyWalk ticket (1,000 to 1,200 baht for an adult), and after 7pm the cover has been about 1,000 baht with a drink. Sky Bar at lebua, on the 64th floor, is the next famous one down.
Is Sky Bar in Bangkok worth it?
For one drink at sunset, yes, if you go knowing the price: about 1,765 baht for a Hangovertini once service and tax are added. Get there at 5pm, wear long trousers, and ask for Sky Bar if staff point you to Pink Bar. If the budget won't stretch, ThreeSixty has a river view for a third of the price.
