What does a friend do?

A friend comes along to a member's plans for a few hours, as company. Dinner and a night market, a concert, karaoke, a day at the beach. The member picks the plan and pays for food, drinks and tickets. You don't plan the day or show anyone around, and it's strictly platonic.

Who can apply

  1. 18 or over, with a Thai ID card or a passport. For drinks and nights out, 20 or over.
  2. Living in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket or Pattaya.
  3. Easy to talk to, on time, and happy to try what the member has planned.
  4. Some English or Chinese helps, but it isn't a must.

The rules, for everyone

Members agree to these before they can book. Anyone who breaks them loses their account.

  • No sex, and no girlfriend or boyfriend experience.
  • No kissing, and no harassment.
  • No hotel rooms. You never go up to a member's room, or back to anyone's place.
  • No hostess work: no sitting with a table, no drinks on commission.
  • Nobody under 18, and nobody under 20 at drinks or nights out.

First meet-ups start somewhere public. Once you've said yes to a booking, you stay for the whole time booked. If something happens that makes you uncomfortable, you can leave and message us: our team steps in and deals with it.

  2. We reply within 24 hours

    We read every application ourselves and answer on LINE, whether it's a yes or not.

  3. We check your ID

    If it's a fit, we check the ID you sent before anything goes live.

  4. Your profile goes live

    We set up your profile with you: nickname, rate, what you like doing and photos. Then members can book you.

Your ID

A photo of your Thai ID card or passport, with your name, photo and date of birth easy to read. We use it for one thing: checking that you're 18 or over and that we can legally list you. Only our team sees it, it never goes on your profile, and it's deleted with your application.

Questions from people applying

How much can I earn?
You set your own hourly rate, and each booking has a minimum number of hours, so you know what a booking pays before you say yes. We keep a share of each booking as our fee, and we tell you exactly how much before your profile goes live. Food, drinks and tickets on the day are paid by the member.
Is it free to apply?
Yes. Applying and being listed cost nothing. We only earn our share from bookings you've done.
What do I need to apply?
Your LINE, 6 recent photos of you, a photo of your Thai ID card or passport, and about 5 minutes. We check the ID before your profile goes live, to make sure you're 18 or over.
How do I get paid?
The member pays for the booking when they book. Once it's done, we send your share by PromptPay or bank transfer.
Can I leave a booking early?
Once you've said yes to a booking, you stay for the whole time booked, so check the plan and the hours before you accept. If something happens that makes you uncomfortable, you can leave and message us. Our team steps in and deals with it.
Is anything sexual involved?
No, never. Rent Thai Friend is strictly platonic: no sex, no kissing, no harassment, no girlfriend experience and no hotel rooms. Anyone who asks for that loses their account. If it happens on a booking, you can leave and our team steps in.
Who sees my photos and details?
Your profile shows a nickname and blurred photos. Members we've checked see the photos clearly, with their own email on them as a watermark. Your full name, phone number and ID are only seen by our team.
Do I have to speak English?
No. It helps, but your profile lists the languages you speak, and members choose friends by language.
Can I say no to a booking?
Yes. You see the member's first name, the plan, the time and the meeting point before you agree, and you can turn down anything that doesn't suit you.
How old do I need to be?
18 or over, checked against your ID card or passport. To join drinks or nights out, 20 or over.
When will I hear back?
Within 24 hours, on LINE, whether it's a yes or not. Our answer can only reach you if you've added our LINE account, so tap Add when LINE asks.
Do I need a member account?
No. Applying to be a friend is separate from member accounts. Just connect LINE on the form.
