Short on time? Get a flat white at Sunset Coffee Roaster on Beach Road, then ride up Pratamnak Hill for hot chocolate at The Chocolate Factory and stay next door at The Sky Gallery for the sunset. If the coffee matters more than the view, Sheeva Cafe and Backstreet House roast their own beans and are a short ride inland.

This is a coffee-and-cake list for the daytime: places to sit with a view, a pastry or a proper cup between the beach and dinner. We checked all 14 on 28 October 2026 for whether they're still trading, their hours, their closed days and what people pay. Pattaya hours move around, so tap the map link before you go.

Getting around: shared songthaews loop along Beach Road and Second Road and cost 10 to 20 baht a person. Press the buzzer to get off and pay the driver. Anything up a hill or out of town is a Bolt or Grab.

Which Pratamnak Hill cafes have the best view?

Pratamnak Hill is the headland between Pattaya Beach and Jomtien, the one with the PATTAYA sign on it. The cafes with the views sit at its far end, on the cliffs above Cosy Beach, facing west over the water. The three below are within 250 metres of each other, about 4 km and 20 minutes by car from Central Festival on Beach Road. Take a Bolt or Grab up.

The Lunar Beach House

Go for the sea view, and an early start. It's the one cliff cafe that opens at 8am, which makes it the quiet choice: white rooms with sky-blue corners and a deck right over the sea. Cake comes in big slices, so share one over tea or a cold brew. Most people spend 200 to 400 baht. When it's full, service slows right down, so come in the morning or on a weekday. Open 8am to 9pm every day. It's a hotel as well, so guests come and go. Map

The Chocolate Factory

Go for chocolate and cake with the air conditioning on. A big cafe and restaurant on Soi Ratchawarun with the sea out of the windows, so ask for a window table. Order a hot or iced chocolate and a brownie or the lava cake. The menu runs on to baked spinach and other mains, which is why the spend is 200 to 1,000 baht a head: eat a meal and you'll be at the top of it. Open 11am to 10pm daily. Map

The Sky Gallery

Go for the sunset. The famous one, on every Thai cafe list for Pattaya we read this year: tables spread across the cliff edge, looking over the bay to Koh Larn. People come for the view more than the food, which gets mixed reviews, so treat it as a place for a drink. It isn't cheap at 400 to 1,200 baht a head, and Saturday evenings are packed. Come mid-afternoon on a weekday and stay for the light; the sun sets around 6pm from November to January. Open 11am to 11pm, from 10am at weekends. If it's full, its sister cafe The Forest by The Sky is a two-minute walk along the cliff, with the same sea and more trees (10am to 10pm). Map

Where are the best cafes in Jomtien?

Jomtien is the long, quieter beach south of Pratamnak Hill, with condo towers along the front. Its southern stretch, Na Jomtien, is where the beach cafes are. Songthaews run along Jomtien Beach Road, but for Na Jomtien take a Bolt or Grab: about 25 minutes from Central Festival.

Ordinary Coffee X The Now

Go for good coffee for less. A coffee bar on Jomtien Beach Road with an air-conditioned room and seats outside. Pick one of three house blends for a cappuccino or flat white (a cappuccino was 85 baht this month), or have a pour-over or an Aeropress. One catch: two visitors this month were charged for extras nobody mentioned, so ask the price before you add anything. Open 7am to 9pm daily, about 25 minutes by car from Central Festival. Map

Nitan Coffee's Tale

Go for the building, and the coffee. A Gothic-style building in Na Jomtien that people come to photograph, with a long list of house blends and beans, and close to 7,000 Google reviews. Have coffee and a dessert here and eat somewhere else. Recent reviews love the coffee and the room far more than the food, and service drags when it's busy. Most people spend 200 to 400 baht. Open 8:30am to 10pm daily, 12 km and about 22 minutes from Central Festival. There's a second Nitan on Pratamnak Hill; this one is in Na Jomtien. Map

Tutu Beach

Go for the photos. An all-pink beach cafe on Na Jomtien Soi 10, with chairs out on the sand. The matcha gets the good reviews, and the pink drinks match the room. Big groups arrive at certain times of day, so a weekday morning is calmer. Expect 200 to 400 baht a head. Open 10am to 7pm, until 8pm at weekends, about 27 minutes from Central Festival. Map

Which cafes in central Pattaya and Naklua are worth it?

Central Pattaya is Beach Road and the streets behind it. Naklua is the old fishing town to the north, past the Dolphin roundabout. Songthaews loop south along Beach Road and back north along Second Road. For Sheeva, Backstreet House and XIN, a Bolt or Grab takes 10 to 20 minutes.

Sunset Coffee Roaster

Go for the coffee, with the sea in front of you. Sunset roasts its own beans, and this branch faces the beach on Beach Road, a few minutes' walk north of Central Festival. Order a flat white, or a cup of whatever they've roasted dark, and buy a bag to take home. The fruity signature drinks divide people. It's busy and very photogenic, so expect phones out. Under 200 baht a head. Open 7:30am to 6pm, 6:30pm at weekends, which makes it the best first coffee of a beach day. Map

Sheeva Cafe

Go for the coffee. Sheeva roasts its own on a Giesen roaster, in a garden cafe off Sukhumvit Road, and it holds a 4.9 on Google from more than 5,000 reviews. Order a latte of the medium roast and a croissant. Every customer gets a free glass of pink milk (nom yen, sweet milk with red sala syrup), and plenty of the reviews are about it. Under 200 baht a head. Open 9am to 6pm daily, until 6:30pm on Sundays and Mondays, about 13 minutes by car from Central Festival. Map

Backstreet House

Go for the garden and the beans. A loft-style roastery down a lane behind Lotus's North Pattaya, with an air-conditioned room and a shaded garden round a pond. They keep 20-odd beans for drip coffee, so ask what's good this week, or have the Dirty: a hot shot poured over cold milk. Weekends fill up. Under 200 baht a head. Open 10am to 6pm, closed Wednesdays, about 11 minutes by car from Central Festival. Map

La Baguette

Go for the pastries. A French bakery and cafe on Naklua Road near the Woodlands hotel, at the top of Beach Road, about 2 km on foot from Central Festival. The almond croissant is the order, with a café au lait. It costs more than most cafes in town, about 150 to 250 baht for a pastry and a coffee. Open 8am to 11pm daily, so it's the one still serving when the roasters have closed. There's a second La Baguette on Pratamnak Hill. Map

XIN Coffee and Co.

Go for the building. A three-storey building in old Naklua, near Lan Pho market, that used to be a gold shop. Inside it's Chinese in style, with a rock garden upstairs. Recent visitors keep ordering the coconut foam coffee. For something stranger, ask whether the MUMS, a chrysanthemum coffee, is on. It's quiet and air-conditioned, under 200 baht a head. Open 8am to 5pm daily, about 17 minutes by car from Central Festival. Map

Which cafes outside Pattaya do Thai weekenders drive to?

Thai visitors down from Bangkok for the weekend often go a little further: south to the quieter coast at Bang Saray, or inland to the garden cafes around Huay Yai. Take a Bolt or Grab, or hire a car for the day. Bang Saray is about 40 minutes from Central Festival and Huay Yai about 30. Sort out your ride back before the sun goes down.

Maris Cafe

Go for the sea. A blue-and-white cafe and restaurant on the Bang Saray sea road, facing the water, with a full food menu. Come for a cold drink in the late afternoon and stay for the sunset. Expect 200 to 400 baht a head, a bit more than the Thai places along the same road. Open 10am to 9pm daily, 24 km and about 40 minutes by car from Central Festival. Map

Coco Rodante'

Go for your feet in the sand. A small coffee shop on the beach, 600 metres down the road from Maris, with tables on the sand. Order the red sorbet cone piled with fruit, or a coffee. Get there before sunset if you want a table by the water. Under 200 baht a head. Open 10am to 6:30pm, closed Wednesdays. Map

Remind Cafe & Bistro

Go for the garden. A cream-coloured house in a flower field in Huay Yai, with a fountain, seats on the roof and an air-conditioned room for the hottest hours. The cakes are homemade (cheesecake, pandan and coconut cake, tiramisu), and the house coffee is an Americano made with coconut water. Pets are welcome. The light through the windows is best from 3 to 4:30pm. Under 200 baht a head. It's closed on Thursdays. Google lists 8am to 5pm, 6pm at weekends, and other listings say it stays open later, so check before the drive. About 18 km and 30 minutes from Central Festival. Map

These drives are where a second person earns their seat: someone to split the cakes, take your photo in the flower field and sort out the ride home in Thai. A Pattaya friend can come along for the afternoon.

A cafe afternoon in Pattaya

Beach Road for coffee, then up the hill until the sun goes down. One ride, and every stop opens daily.

  1. 2pm, Sunset Coffee Roaster. A flat white facing the sea on Beach Road.
  2. 3pm, the ride up. Bolt or Grab to the Pratamnak cliffs, about 4 km and 20 minutes.
  3. 3:30pm, The Chocolate Factory. Hot chocolate and a brownie at a window table.
  4. 5pm, The Sky Gallery. A minute's walk away. Get a drink and a seat on the edge before the sunset at about 6pm. For less, walk three minutes to The Lunar Beach House instead.
  5. After dark. A ride back to Beach Road takes about 20 minutes.

Do this plan with a Thai friend

Take this list, pick a friend in Pattaya, send the day and the cafes you want, and meet at the first one. They come along, order in Thai, share the cake and take the photos, and for Bang Saray or Huay Yai they'll ride out with you. You book them by the hour, and it's always platonic. Their time is the booking; coffee, food and rides are paid on the day. Here's how booking works.
